The UT96 is a low noise Full-speed USB 1.1 12 Mbps audio interface to Toslink and ElectroTos.
Maximum supported sample-rate is 96 kHz.
The UT192 is a Hi-speed USB 2.0 480 Mbps audio interface to Toslink and ElectroTos.
Maximum supported sample-rate is 192 kHz (UT192 uses an XMOS controller).
You can use these converters to stream music from a USB source such as a PC or a dedicated player with USB audio output to drive our PowerDACs or any other DAC that has a Toslink input.
Although the UT192 supports higher sample-rates than the UT96 , the output also contains more noise.
When using USB audio to stream music to our PowerDAC-SX/RX/RXV you can check if the playback software is bit-perfect by using the built-in bit-perfect test (The PowerDAC-BX does not have a built-in bit-perfect test).
When Toslink/ElectroTos input to our PowerDACs is not bit-perfect this will cause some sound degradation.
YouTube audio (compressed audio) is never bit perfect, but YouTube SQ output on our PowerDACs is still very good. You can check this by playing music videos and life recorded music videos like from e.g. “scary pockets”
Although SQ is not bit-perfect, it still sounds pretty good.
